Irricana residents host Car Show and country Music Event
Irricana residents have fused their love for country music and collector cars into a one-day event that took place on the 24th day of July 2021 in northeast Rocky View County. Live music and a classic car show were part of the Cars, and Country Stars show and shine music festival. There were also food trucks, camping, and an evening fireworks display.
This event was inspired by the desire to revitalize the Irricana community after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of a number of planned car shows and music events. According to the event organizer, Ken Klassen, this affair is incredibly significant because the town is home to many auto enthusiasts and country music fans. Everyone was encouraged to showcase their classic cars, whatever they consider a classic car. The car show started at 2 p.m.
Later that day, the shine music festival began with musical performances from the “best of the best”. The organizers had two stages set up for the artists to perform on. The performances were given by a few Canadian artists, including Julian Austin, Tacoma, and High Steppin Daddy band, Cole Malone, and Lori Kole. Headliner Julian Austin, a New Brunswick-based musician, gave the most memorable performance.
A number of food trucks were also on-site to serve hungry guests. During the event, the guests got to enjoy the great ambiance outdoors. A few families and guests spent the night camping by the little lake on site. Entry to the event cost $40 per person. Coordinators stated that they are not hosting the event to make money, so any funds raised above the costs of promoting and putting on the event will be donated to local charities. Aside from this cause, the event brought out the best of Irricana’s community spirit all in one entertaining yet relaxing night.
